| Anatomy Of The Infinite A Seven Year Itch |
|
After a seven-year recording silence, Astriaal is now poised to return with their second album entitled "Anatomy Of The Infinite". This next opus is due to be released in the autumn of 2010 for the southern equatorial territories via Australian label Obsidian Records. Sounding strikingly different to the band's debut full-length, "Renascent Misanthropy", in production, tone and song structure, "Anatomy Of The Infinite" was recorded at various studios within Australia and mixed at Mølla Lydstudio in Norway with Knut Magne Valle (Arcturus). Featuring eight tracks comprising of haunting and dissonant passages interwoven with moments of epic black metal grandeur, the CD resonates with a more primeval, organic musicality throughout.
"Anatomy Of The Infinite" track listing:
01. Blessed Are The Dead 02. Visceral Incarnate 03. 'Neath The Bones Of Salvation 04. Ad Interim 05. The Scars Of Aberration 06. Foundations In Flesh 07. Relinquishment Of The Stars 08. ...For The Day Will Come
The song "Foundations In Flesh" can be heard at Astriaal's MySpace page.

| Soilwork New Album Details |
|
Swedish set Soilwork have set "The Panic Broadcast" as the title of their new album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records.
Commented vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid: "I'm so stoked about his record, and I feel it's gonna be quite a challenge for everyone in the band.
"So how does it sound? Here's my personal take: to use an old cliche, it's bigger than life! Seriously, if any of you missed some of the intricate riffing that makes Soilwork so unique, you won't be disappointed. I find these songs very playful and because we're not cutting down on anything — no 'too much information,' no 'less is more' — they're just pure musical joy with no boundaries. And THAT, to me, is what this band is all about! Of course, there'll be some surprises as always, and giving every one of us the freedom to go apeshit will without a doubt yield a heavy-as-f**k and naturally catchy album.

| Soreption Debut Album Soon |
|
Swedish technical death metallers Soreption will release their debut album, "Deterioration Of Minds", on March 3 via Ninetone Records. The CD was recorded, mixed and produced by Tommy Rehn (Angtoria) at Sidelake, Ninetone and Blue Oyster Studios.
Soreption's debut MCD/DVD release, "Illuminate the Excessive", was issued in June 2008 via Cube 1 Records. The effort was recorded, mixed and produced at Sidelake Studios by Tommy and Chris Rehn from ANGTORIA. The CD also featured artwork by Chris Rehn.
Formed in 2005, Soreption specializes in "technically and artistically advanced riffs topped with in-your-face brutal vocals," according to a press release. "These twenty-year old guys perform their songs quickly, brutally and highly technical with musicality and finesse. A very unusual combination especially for a band as young as Soreption."

Baltimore, Maryland's Misery Index entered Wright Way Studios (Dying Fetus, Slipknot, Mos Def) this January with engineer Steve Wright to begin recording its new album, tentatively titled "Heirs To Thievery", for a May release via Relapse Records.
Regarding the recording process, Misery Index drummer Adam Jarvis told SickDrummerMagazine.com, "As always, we started with drums first. This time around recording at home allowed me to use some different drums and make to sure I had the best drums for the sound we were going for... HUGE!!! I had help from a good friend of mine; drum tech, Jon-John Michaud from the band Swarm of the Lotus, and having him involved helped getting the process of finding the right drum sounds fly by, and I tracked three songs the first day."
On the drums used on "Heirs To Thievery":
"The toms I used on the record are from another buddy of mine, Keith Larson at The Baltimore Drum Company. Sizes used 10",12" and 16" solid Maple shells, with clear Emperor Heads. I used my Ddrum Dominion maple kicks 20"x20" and a hand-hammered brass Worldmax snare 6.5"x14", which is the best-sounding snare I have ever used in the studio. We tried out a couple different snare drums and the Worldmax with an Emperor X head had the crack we were looking for! The cymbals I used on the recording were mostly Meinl cymbals, which I have an endorsement with.
"A lot of times when you get in the studio everything sounds totally different once you hear it recorded... Especially the cymbals. Since I'm a pretty heavy cymbal hitter, they are the most important part of the record (next to the snare, of course)."
"Heirs To Thievery" tentative track listing:
01. Embracing Extinction 02. Fed To The Wolves 03. The Carrion Call 04. Heirs To Thievery 05. Spectator 06. The Seventh Cavalry 07. Illuminaught 08. Plague Of Objects 09. You Lose 10. Sleeping Giants
The band will also record a bonus song for the Japanese edition of the album.
Misery Index's Jason Netherton previously stated about the upcoming CD, "The thread that binds several songs lyrically surrounds ideas of hidden history, how we interpret our nation, and our idea of who we are culturally and collectively, as it is generally handed down to us in terms of icons, wars, struggles and triumph."
Misery Index will embark on a tour of Australia and New Zealand this spring. The trek will kick off in early April and will also include Decapitated, Psycroptic and Origin.

| Scorpions Lose Their Sting |
|
German rock legends Scorpions have announced that their forthcoming new album, "Sting In The Tail" and it's subsequent world tour, will be the band's last. A statement from the band discussing their forthcoming split reads as follows: "Important message to our fans: It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you - whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs. "While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpions' extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years. "We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years! "We uploaded the very first snippets from our new album for you. And now… let’s get the party started and get ready for a Sting in the Tail! "See you on the world tour."
